Film History Fundamentals
Subject Overview
Students will uncover how film was invented, by whom, what the first camera was called and the very first films made by the Lumiere Brothers. They will explore how ‘story’ began to infiltrate film and learn some early history of Hollywood and how it evolved from the Motion Picture Patent Wars between the Motion Picture Patents Company with Thomas Edison at the helm and the Independent Outlaws.

- Explain how films started to set a trend of storytelling within cinema
- Demonstrate a basic understanding of early development of film-making technology and communicate the importance of one piece of technology in the development of cinema
